    Default Scammed on eBay

One of my coworkers here at the shop got taken for $3,200 on an eBay scam. OUCH! He thought he was buying a 97' mustang and ended up buying a headache instead.

It inspired me to write a little instructional guide on how to keep from getting scammed on eBay. http://adam.cavanaughclan.net/

the guy had his car on ebay, then took it down and told my coworker that he'd put it back up, sent him a link...but the link he gave him wasn't to ebay at all. it was to a mirrored ebay site this guy had made. and then my buddy won the auction and... here's the big mistake... sent him the money through western union. pretty upsetting.

There are warnings about these scams on the eBay website. I'd suicide if something like that happened to me ._.

Alaska is said to have the highest rating for eBay scams. I dont use eBay though, I dont buy anything really.

The guy ended up getting 6 other people and about $25,000 out of the scam. Texas state police are trying to track him down right now.
