    Default Plaza Shoot

Had exam leave today so after about 3hrs of my controlled Art mock exam I went down to a nice block of buildings, just past a subway (where I also ate lunch ) with my mate Arthur, and we poked around a bit. We then got questioned by a "security for sefton" guy, (fake police) in the park, funnn.

The shots are in no particular order, with almost no editing outside of cameraRAW (So basically, contrast).

My favourites are "King", "Pleasureland", "Branch", and "Kirov". Feel free to argue otherwise 'cause I'm going to put a few on dA.

I tried to stay away from making them all black and white, and sqaure. It kinda worked Hahah.

    Centre

    Sharp image

    £2.99

Shot from the waist, manual focus. She had quite a character, and I liked the placement of the pigeon and workman (with reflection).

    Branch

This seems quite surreal to me, and looks like artificial lighting has been used, but its all natural

    False Escape.

I like the composition of this personally, although if the door wasnt in as much shade, it mightve been better, thoughts?

    King

Noise due to high ISO =/

    3:1

Odd one out? Worst of the shoot I think. =/

    Untitled.

Focus was slightly off, but it highlights the line of moss running across.

    Pleasureland

Focused in wrong area, but I like the fact you can see the street through the window, and quite sharply.

    Kirov

I am very proud of this last image; taken as it was found.

Feel free to ask any questions whatsoever, suggest improving techniques and new names (cause mine are terrible)

All shots (I think) taken on Av - F/4, Spot Metering for a few. 800 ISO, which was stupid, and I only realised afterwards (Hence noise in a few), 50mm.

I have four more images, similar styles but they are pretty plain building/urban shots. I will upload them if anyone wants to see them however.

Very cool, my favorites are definetly Branch and Keep clear. They look very cool. Keep clear might look a bit cooler with some vignetting though.

False escape would have been incredible with different lighting. You should definetly go back and do a reshoot on that sometime, and hey if ya do you can always use the cliche' Whatch that first step..It's a doozey!
The 3:1 photo is nice, but I would like something more to be going on. Or maybe even just some more contrast in the bricks. They seem too dull for my taste.
The king photos is pretty sweet. I like the coloring.
I have to be quite frank though I don't really get the whole 2.99 shot. It's cool and has great composition but i don't really understand it besides that. Maybe I'm missing something?
I like the urban feeling you through all of these photos. The Angle you shot these at gave them a very "show it liek it is" feeling. Nice job.

I like these, 3:1 reminds me of the cover art from the album "Cruel Town" by swedish indie kings Broder Daniel, although the cover is more urban-esque.

Centre is really cool. You COULD have cropped it so that you only see the two rows of windows and the "centre" in the middle. But this works great as well.

£2.99 is pretty good as well. The reflection makes the shot. Too bad it isn't very sharp, but it was a waist shot so what the hell. Title is awesome, I didn't see that sign in the background at first.

Great composition in Branch. Nice lighting also, I agree on how it looks a bit artificial. I love how the ventilation thingy (or whatever it is) is centered. Helps the composition a lot!

False Escape would have been great if the lighting was pretty much reversed. Now the door is too dark, my eyes want to look at the wall to the right. Like Papa said, you should reshoot this if you can.

King doesn't not do so much for me. The letters are cool and I like the tight crop, but other from that it's not that interesting. I like the colors. Don't think the noise is a problem, I didn't notice.

I wonder what 3:1 would look like in color? Great focal point in this picture, but maybe it could have been better to give it some high saturated colors? At least around that last window.

I'll come back and comment the rest later.. Now I gotta sleeeeeeeeep....

Haha well the comments are great help so far
Yeah, we were talking with some council people who were investigating people dumping their rubbish around the area, and I'd completely walked past that door, turned round and took a quick snap. Ill have to go there in the morning sometime when the suns on the other side of the sky or something..
2.99, i really didnt want the person to see me, as with the other street photography style photos I took, and im still not too confident, so the waist level was a must with the focus set to around 3m.
In centre, I liked having the three rows because of the reflections in the window forming a gradient upward, I think the two centre windows would just make the image a bit too bland?

i love how they're all so sharp! how did you get them like that, just by using cameraRAW? if so, i'll definitely have to check it out

No, cameraRAW is just the photoshop RAW opener.
Pentax make good glass, I used my 50mm F/1.4. Its incredibly sharp. Only beaten by their 77m and 31mm ltd lenses, which are 5 times the price.
