How do they do it?

I've always wondered how do you get your photos like this. As you may notice it's not like a raw image. It has that invisible layer on it which makes it seem not raw like the other pic below:






Is it something in Photoshop or something?

By the looks of it. He was shooting in better lighting whihc makes it less likely to have grain. I don't know what kind of camera he took the photo with as well, but compact digital cameras(your using) are more likely to produce grain than that of a DLSR due to the small censor size.

If you download Neat image it works pretty well or grain removal, but like everything it can't work magic. Also If you try to shoot in brighter lighting it will help.

More or less, it's called having an artistic eye.

You see something that you know would make an excellent photograph and take the photo. If it didn't come out like you wanted, that's why photoshop is there to help you change it up a bit!

But also if you notice when shooting footage from a regular cam corder it's grainy too. But the final product you see on TV like say a show like the Olsen Twins or whatever, it's not grainy. Would you say it's a different camera in that case too?

Yes, When they are shooting a movie they are using very expensive cameras. And like i said before they also have better lighting. Which helps keep grain minimal.

Theres no grain in the second, but it was shot with a lower quality camera.
