Well first of all, i think its the wrong colour, perhaps try a white colour with about 50-60% opacity. Secondly remove that underline, it is really rather dodgy like that. Positioning is ok, but hard to tell if its good or not without sorting out colours

Look for inspirational tags, I'm not sure if there's a thread like that on this forum, but I know there is elsewhere, try google for threads like that.
Just see how they do text and try to emulate in your own style. I'm not saying copy, but take what you can from them.

In my experience simpler is better.

Smudging text (i find) makes it look slightly better.. i use default texts.. cba downloading etc..
