Default What are you - An Introvert, or an Extrovert.

Why, why must I always post threads on a topic not many people give a hoot about. Ah well.
If you cba reading its probably best to hit the back button rather than posting some bullshit to increase your e-penis.

So I've just been doing my research (quite a darn lot of it I might add) into the topic of Intro/Extroverts and It makes for an extremely interesting read. To those of you who don't know what the differences are:

    Extrovert:
An Extrovert is someone who feeds off the energy of others, generally prefers being around as many people as possible in social situations, Extroverts make up the majoritory of the population equating to roughly 60+%.

    Introvert:
An Introvert is almost the complete opposite, proffering to spend time in solitude rather than around groups of people. An Introvert would actually find social situations quickly exhausting.

This is a really interesting topic for me simply because a lot of people out there, myself included, mis-diagnose themselves as something they're not. Such as having social anxiety, general anxiety, depression, phobia etc.. the list goes on, of course these things can go hand in hand with each other but it's very very rare.
Extroverts are usually the ones that are pushed for in today's western society and it's a common misconception that those who are Introvert are 'Shy' or Arrogant.
I guess you could link the two things similarly to the way some people study star signs and believe that is what makes relationships bond well, on the contrary Introverts are certainly not shy or arrogant, they just prefer to spend time alone with their own mind, where as an Extrovert person would feed off of the energy of small talk somebody who is Introvert would feed off of the energy from more important subjects, one on one conversations and/or debates about something that interests them is a great way to get an Introvert out of their 'shell' if you like.

Both need time to recharge. It's interesting to note that in an Extrovert world (Good god I hate having to keep repeating the whole Extro Intro thing but I can't think of any other way to put it) behind the scenes some of the biggest people in power or fame are in fact Introverts. Most likely due to their ability to think things through much more thoroughly and complete projects that interest them.

    Julia Roberts
    Christian Bale (BATMAN!)
    J.K Rowling
    Albert Einstein
    Ghandi
    Steven
    Spielberg
It has also been rumoured president Obama is a borderline Introvert.

    To name a few.
I won't get in to the whole science of it but to condense it down it actually doesn't have anything to do with lifestyle choice at all, in fact an Intro's brain will mainly use the frontal part for more logical thinking of situations where as an Extrovert uses most of the back, it literally is the way you're wired and is usually inherited. Put simply it means that in an office board meeting the ones with the loudest voice might not always have the best opinions... and Extro's like this have a distinct lack of being able to assess the things that might go wrong on the path to getting a reward (In other words, you probably have Extroverts to thank for the 2008/9 recession).

But this is all nonsense if you don't know the affects of it besides just being 'a little bit secluded'. An Introvert will get drained considerably just by doing simple things out in public, even small things such as walking on the high street or attending a party will significantly drain that persons energy, as I said above with an Extro it's the opposite.

Question is where do you fit in to all of this? Some people can be completely borderline, known as Ambiverts but it's unlikely. It should be fairly simple to diagnose yourself but if it isn't there should be a few tests out there at the result of a quick Google. I would love to know the results =D.
I think it's a little safe to say I'm an Introvert, considering I just managed to write all of this and actually not get bored. O_o.

    inb4 DM gets all pissy.

Frick, I wouldn't say I feed off of others energy, but I do thrive more around ppl. Now back at school and around ppl my own age( rather then my small children) I'm realizing just how much of a social person I am and how outspoken I am.

I also tend to notice that I make ppl feel at ease, I don't chat so much that I don't share the light, though I tend to find that ppl enjoy more being questioned and feeding off stories, rather then come up with their own break of the ice, or finding similarities amongst a crowed.

If any of you remember what I was like my first few days here, I was never one to not speak and always applied questions to others when I have my own story to share. I guess I was just fooling myself when I thought I had a different persona when on net. Only diff is I don't flirt irl and leave that for the young ones when in a infornt social circle

Introvert here, I prefer to be alone at all times and the only real company I enjoy is my bro's. I'm more of a "I don't want to see you, you don't need to see me" type O' guy

    I'm a givenofuckstrovert, ha.

but yeah, probably more of a introvert than extrovert, maybe even an ambivert since I can handle small talk and socializing to a degree, just never initiate it myself because people annoy/don't interest me, lol.

I think you'll find most people that spend their free time online are probably introverts

Indeed (and for once nice post Apa xD)
I don't know which I'd prefer to be tbh The primary downside to being an 'Intro is probably finding a suitable job that won't leave you emotionally and mentally exhausted.

Thanks for the replies guys, personally I find the whole topic really interesting.
