Why can't I see my fu**ing icons on my flat screen?

So I hooked up my laptop to my flat screen with a VGA cable. Input is set to PC on my TV. It worked fine until I buggered something up, so now I see my desktop but no icons on the tv.

I can drag a window over to my flat screen but that isn't what I want to do. I want to duplicate the screens. Isn't working. OS is Vista Basic.

Help me before I blow a gasket here.

Sounds like you changed it from duplicate display to dual monitor display or something, and need to change it back.

I don't have multiple monitors so I don't know if this will help, but try right clicking on desktop>personalize>display settings then click on the 2nd monitor icon and if it has the 'extend the desktop to this monitor' boxed checked then uncheck it, and if it doesn't then recheck it, see if that works.

Nope, tried that. TV says "No Signal" when un checked. When that box is checked, I get my desktop without icons showing on the flat screen.

Never mind...control panel, windows mobility, detect monitor. Works great now.
