This is a very interesting structure indeed.
This fence that I prod at.
Its a very open fence, I suppose.
I mean, think about it.
I can see everyone else on the other side.
I've seen friends hop this fence with relative ease.
I know people have given up on hopping the fence,
only to have a guy or girl on the other side take their hand,
and pull them over it to be together.
I've seen two friends on this side help each other over.
But here I am, and looking around, its getting lonely over here.

This isn't a fence you can just sit on, and twiddle your thumbs.
Its not one you can balance on, or fall off of.
You're either on one side, or you arn't.
Some people go over to my side again- often together, but not.
They leave each other's sides and go to opposite corners of the yard.
Others stay on the otherside forever and ever.
This is a very interesting structure indeed.

I have friends on the other side that I hang out with all the time.
But still this fence is in the way.
There are people on the other side that maybe i'd like to hop over with,
but they hopped over a long, long time ago.
There are also other people who struggle to stay on the other side...
...Only because they're scared about what would happen if they were on my side.
Makes me feel bad, being on this side. Like a sin.
Of course, there's no one over there reaching through the holes, grabbing my hand.
No woman who puts her arms through and tries to give me a lift.
This is a very interesting structure indeed.

There are people that I know all too well
That travel both sides of the fence so much,
they might as well have a door.
Others have been in every corner of the yard, either side of the fence.
And some have decided to stay.
Others don't know where they want to be- they hold their lovers in confusion.
Others arn't in love at all. They're just in need- also scared to be on my side of the fence.
Its not too bad over here, guys. Only when those on the other side start to flaunt themselves.
And their other selves. Their 'significant others'.
This is a very interesting structure indeed.

Its not one you can begin to take apart, piece by piece.
For such a forgiving structure, its impossible to move.
Its the same height, all the time. It has no signs of wearing down.
There's no key, and no ladder. You strictly rely on someone else.
The only way over this fence is with a bit of work.
I'd like to hop over to the otherside, i've forgotten what it looks like,
despite the fact it's filled with so many holes for me to look through.
I can grab people's hands, I can feel what its like- taste, smell, hear what its like.
But i'm not over there.
