Sweet Dreams

I saw you getting weaker but little I could do

But hope and pray that everyday you could make it through

The smell of scented flowers as you would pass the hall

The way you walked so carefully hoping not to fall

The way you watched the sunset and did you best to try

To only show your happy feelings and not the way you cry

Your patient not bad tempered and always you would wait

As you travelled further towards the open gate

You always cared for others and not about yourself

Making yourself poorly and damaging your health

You weren’t the sort of person who wouldn’t hate to care

All the lovely thing’s you did making sure to share

As I looked more closely and saw you win the race

I saw the same old smile across your redrosed face

God sees you getting tired and thinks that you must go

For I shall meet you someday upon the winters snow

Angels come to take you but peacefully you sleep

For never will you wake from counting endless sheep

I’m sorry I must leave you but there’s a lot for you to see

The stars, The moon, The Milky Way but please remember me.

not my work but my 12yr old daughters written for her grandad who died last month ...but thought u might like a read.
