    Default Melting text

    Melting text tutorial by Rabieshund
    Level: Beginner to intermediate

In this small tutorial I will show you how to create a melting text effect using Photoshop.
I will be working in a small resolution since this tutorial probably only will be used by signature makers.

    1. Create a new document and write something. I used a thick text; arial black.

    2. Rasterize it (Layer > Rasterize > Layer) and add a layer mask (Layer > Add Layer Mask > Show All).
    3. Select the brush tool (B) and choose a hard brush. I used 13 px, 100% hardness.
    4. Start painting black color on the layer mask to make parts invisible. Remove edges and everything that's sharp. Try making it look like it's melting.

    5. Create a new layer. Select a smaller brush, but still 100% hardness. I used a 3 px brush.
    6. Start painting small drops on the sides and under it. Try making it look as natural as possible. Think of a candle melting.

    7. Starting to look like something! Now merge the two layers together.
    8. Open up the layer effects and try the following settings:

    The color is #FFC272.

    Finished!

You can of course use other colors. I used this because it is a warm color, to give the impression that the text is actually melting. I didn't bother to do the whole text. Sorry.

    Hope you liked it.
