Vortex Star
[1] Open a new canvas, size 500x500 or any size you feel suitable (as long as its a square canvas)
[2] Select the gradient button on the tool box window.
[3] Select the bog standard back gradient into white (you can experiment with different gradients later as they give differing effects)
[4] Hold shift and draw a line one quarter of the canvas down to three quarters of the canvas. So it'll look something like this.
[5] Select Filter>Distort>Wave and copy these inputs (You can experiment with these inputs in the future) Make sure you input the maximum settings before the minimum.
[6] Colourize the canvas, go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (alternatively press Ctrl + U) to get this window up.
Select the colourize tick box and copy these settings or similar ones (again you can fiddle with these later to get diff colours)
[7] Go to Filter>Distort>Polar Co ordinates, and copy these settings
Press ok and you get a vortex effect.
[8] Now duplicate the layer you have been working with.... So you have a direct copy of the layer above the original.
[Do this by right clicking on the layer in your layer window, and select duplicate layer]
[9] Select the Top layer and go to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal
[10] Set the layer blending at overlay.
And wohay, you got a vortex star.....
I've written this tut with the assistance of others, but wording by me, so let me know if there's anything wrong :P enjoy.
