Litlle square things?

I have noticed that in some signatures there are groups of very small transparent squares and i think it gives a good effect. If you know what i mean by "little groups of tiny squares" then could you tell me if its a brush or something else please? And if so where to get them?

its like a layer that has a pattern overlay, ill post a tut on it once i find it :P

Make a new document 2px by 2px. Zoom in all the way to 1600%, then use a 1px pencil with black and make a line down from the top left corner to the bottom left corner, and then one in the bottom right corner. Then go Edit>Define Pattern. Then, make a new layer and go Edit>Fill. Choose your pattern, then choose your opacity. You're done. =)

Note: You can always make the document bigger and use the same technique for bigger squares.
