If i EVER see/hear any of you use emo as a verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, or pronoun without referring to the genre of music, i will rip out your vocal cords and strangle your limbs until they explode.

Sorry, i'm just pissed off. Country music gets more and more popular each day: it's becoming the new rap.

What pisses me off even more is that the word "emo" is becoming the word "gay" in terms of being angry at something.

I listen to emo music, i also listen to heavy metal, classical, classic rock, metal, death metal, blues, jazz, ambient, techno, and just about anything in between.

I like my music because i LIKE THE MUSIC. If i don't like a band, i don't like a band. I don't give two shits if people care that i like metallica and bach. Who the fuck will beat me up if i listen to coldplay and in flames?

    ^my point exactly.

I sit in whatever position i find comfortable in school. If there's no chairs, i'll lean against a wall, cross my legs and arms because it gives me the best support/comfort factor. Crossing limbs doesn't make me emo! You can't even BE emo, as emo was a genre of punk/alternative rock with the focus on EMOtions, not just the "fuck you" thing.

It's grown wildly out of proportion...and needs to be stopped.

Yeah I completely agree with you on this one. I actually thought about this last night laying in my bed. Yeah im the same way as you, I listen to like all genres of music and emo is actually one of my favorites.

    Another question.

If god forbid someone called someone else "emo" not referring to the music type, why is that a derrogatory comment?

    click this. THIS IS YOU

i think they chose a poor word to describe whiney music haha
i enjoy a soft emo tune every now and then too. but that doesnt mean i'm a cyclops with long straight black hair, girl jeans, and slip on shoes with little cute skulls on them.

seriously every piece of music ever written has EMOtion in it.

emo "music" has become a fashion
just like how guys who 'dress nice' and wear make up are called a metro.
but people forget about the music part, or dont give a crap about it and listen to it anyway because its the next coool thing. i could go on and on about what sheep most young people are but i'm sure along the way i would be talking about myself as well.
    STOP IGNORANCE. STOP TEH EMO

Yer i also hate the way that all rap music (if you can call it music) likers seem to brand ALL rock music as talentless shouting when its not! Iron Maidens guitarists are the best in the world and they spent years learning it. In fact most rock music (notice i said most) has more talent than rap, please tell me what is talentful about some prick photoshopping a 6 pac onto his body and then mumbling into a mic about how small his penis is *cough* 50 cent *cough*. There are to many stereotypists in this world.

Yeah It takes true talent to play a guitar/bass/drums for 3 hours in a show. And rappers just stand up there and talk...

it has a superfluos meaning for the fucktards that can't think of a better way to describe someone... most all music is emotinoal unless it has no meaning... i agree with you and i hate being called emo because i do like the style i do have the hair, i do like the music... but that doesn't make me "emo" ... usually it is used to describe someone who is unmeaningfully depressed ... but there is no set meaning and not one is continuous with everyone.. so it shouldn't be allowed to be said ...

...another point which irritates me is this hatred towards people because they are apparently emo .... only the people who take it too far should be punished because they do it for attention i do the things i do because i like it... it may not make me individual but i couldn't give a rats ass..

... i know a guy in my school he has some stupid superiority complex and since most of the crowd i hang around in they all hate him but if there's no one else he can suck up to, it's always us .. he uses us and yet he'll direct anything we do back to being emo .. like i was sat there not talking just thinking and in content... then someone will walk up and immediately think "oh he's emo he must be sad" and they'll ask what's up.. and he'll say something like "oh he's just emo leave him alone" ... and i'd probably tell him to shove it but he's in my form and in my lessons andthere's no escape ...

..and about rappers? rapping does take talent.. but it depends which kind of rap.. like there's the mainstream "guns, drugs and sex" kind of rap and then there are other genres of rap but the mainstream shit like 50 cent and that kind of thing is a crock. I enjoy rap which have meanings and stuff .. i like tupac and most hip-hip aswell as screamo/emo/rock/al that stuff xtremerunnerars said... i love jazz and blues and stuff and punk and most anything .. i don't like rap which has no meaning and stuff which is there for a buzz... I like jessica simpson too .. her music i mean!

Your emo, get over it, and if your still young enough you will buy into the next trend that the media supports or pulls out their ass.
grow some balls and listen to some metal boy, Sabbath, Metallica(old) Megadeth, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Faith No More, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc. the list goes on.

Well I've never actually sat down and listened to the genre Emo, and probably never will, but I use the term "emo" (short for emotional) to describe anybody who's overly emotional. Makes sense eh?
