Should the bible be taught at school?

I go to a Catholic School (even though i'm muslim..or I was...I converted to atheism), and now I realize that if they had taught the bible in my last public school...well, i'd be pretty pissed.

So no, they should not be taught in public schools whatsoever. Simple as that.

Teaching Creationism or ID has no place in public schooling because yes, our first amendment does say we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, however, if someone takes advantages of these rights and enfringes someone else's, it becomes a problem. Teaching creationism in schools in a biology class is the same thing; the person(s) who put creationism in the curriculum is in a sense being fascist -- that is, pressing their beliefs of how the world was created onto current students. Where the problem begins is when someone actually starts teaching it, not just offering it or saying that it is an alternative that many people believe in. If they offered it, not taught it, as a possible alternative in a class such as pysch or sociology then it would be a different story (these classes are more based on "possibilities" and hypothesis&#39, rather than a biology course (which is based on science and cold hard facts).

It should at least be mentioned at some point during the curriculum. It doesn't have to be covered in depth or even covered at all. It should be mentioned though.

I think you should be able to choose between having a hour of R.E a week.. or something like.. a library lesson. Where you just go into the library and read, or piss aboout on the pc's making stupid flash cartoons hehe

I get sick listening to the jesus things from year to another.
I'd even take Mother Languange classes instead of it, but I have 9+/B+ on Religion :happy:.

I disagree with the teaching of the bible at school; even if you wouldnt like it, even if your morality wouldnt accept it, or even if it was againts your anything, you have to listen to it.

I agree with that religion should be taught only to those who want to listen (and succumb to it :laugh.

Mostly I hate this:
You have to go to church with school to listen to some advent crap even if you wouldnt want to, for many hours.

I didn't read anyone elses posts, because my opinions are very simple.

Church's are for teaching the bible. Religion is a personal opinion, church is optional...perfect.

School is manditory, you don't go to school you go to jail. You're also not allowed to force your religion on people (that's called unconstitutional). So... to force people to go to a public school where religion is taught would be, in and of itself, unconstitutional.

Private schools are fine, in my opinion. It's a shame that public schools can't afford the teachers that private school have, but that is the way that the cookie crumbles.

Although this country (usa, idk if anyone is from canada here) was founded on its princibles it should not betaught as fact when it just can't be proven at all.
