stupid parabolas

so um, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to find the area of a part of a parabola, preferably without using any calculus (the shaded part is the part i need to find)



i dont' need just an answer, i need how to actually do it (plus i highly doubt there's enough information on there to get an exact answer)

Whats the equation of the parabola?
It can't be y=x^2 since its all the way down there.

Also what are the coordinates of the intersecting points of the line y=2|x+2| and y-60 to the parabola?

well the line is actually y=21X=21, and i'll just update the picture with everything else i know already. and the intersect of y=-60, and y=21X+21 is (-3.857 , -60)



(the two equations inside the shape are two different forms of the equation for the parabola)

yeah i asked my teacher, but he said he didn't know any way to do it without calculus, but he doesn't actually know a whole lot about math seeing as he's suposed to be a french teacher -_-

Im getting into "Senior" school - Year 11 Woo.

Btw Neiromaru, what is a French teacher doing teaching maths? That's a bit concerning. :P
On that thought - anyone noticed that Australians say "maths" but Americans say "math" and Aussies say "Sport" but americans say "sports"?
