This is a picture I took of my girlfriend. A little bit of work done in Photoshop with it.

Nice to finally see someone trying out portrait photography. Here's some critisicm though.
The lightsource is way too strong. Try to avoid those white areas. Also, you have included the lightsource in the picture, which is a mistake. It screams out "heeeey, loook at meee!!". Just doesn't go well with the rest of the picture. The image is blurry since it's dark, but it's still over exposed. How to avoid this? Use a weaker lightsource. The best way is to use one of those umbrella thingies that photographers use. Then you get a soft light and can take the photo with longer exposure without it getting over exposed. But it seems like you have a smaller camera (just like me -_-), so I don't recommend you go that far yet. xP
Hope that helped a little! Keep on photographing.

Basically, it was more of spontaneous thing. she wasn't looking.. i told her I was turning my camera on to use it as a webcam. I'm sho sneaky . Like I said, there was some work done in Photoshop afterwards. I darkened it a bit and added a bit of a motion blur for a more... what i thought would be an angelic effect, just because it's what she really represents to me. As far as the lightsource, yeah, I know it's WAY too strong, but she was drawing at the time so i couldn't really turn her light off so i could snap a picture. That wouldn't be sneaky at all.
Oh, and about my camera. It's the FugiFilm FinePix S3100. [ specs ]
