Look guys, there are some people who, whenever any topic that has the word photoshop is present, will talk about warez. As a staff member, this really angers all of us, and you guys should really stop it. In my opinion, this is what's killing professionals out there. The reason most don't see the problems in doing some layout for about 20$ is probably because you PAID NOTHING for the program! Hell, you didn't even pay for the internet connection to get it illegally most likely. If you would spend the money to buy a version, you'd realize how little 20$ is, and what it's doing to the industry.

Any professionals out there (43,metalskin, etc) have any say on this?

    again,

DO NOT TALK ABOUT WAREZ or the obtaining of software illegally.

Everything said there is absolutely true. Piracy is hurting more than just Adobe. And there is really no reason for it. There are plenty of other options, GIMP for instance. Alot of professional web designers use GIMP as a matter of fact. And since it's completely free... I see no reason to steal photoshop instead. I started with GIMP, and only moved to Photoshop when my job required it (for printing purposes).

I know this is no valid point but it is a point against what your saying.

Think how many people will buy these products because they obtained it illegally.

Take Bob for example, Bob downloads photoshop because he is bored, decided he likes it so he illegally cracks it. Then a 5years later down he is still using it and is very experianced so he decides to start a graphic business up, then he is forced to legally buy photoshop.

If he were not to illegally obtain Photoshop he would never of bought it, look on this forum for example. Most the people got it illegally, a lot of those people want a job where they will need to buy it.

I don't understand why he is forced to buy it when he starts a business. Wouldn't pirating it make him more likely to do it again?

Downloading software is still theft. Downloading software that should be paid for isn't justified just because you make graphics for fun.

    Do you download software?!

I have downloaded many things. I admit it, but I have never used them BEYOND my personal needs. I have not used them to gain fame, fortune, or anything. Every piece of software I have ever downloaded (illegally) never hurt anyone, or the company who made it.
