Well... what is it meant to be? For a wallapper it's too hard to look at. YOu should use inverse colours for the bg, so it fits well I don't like the way you've tried to blend it, just looks stupid around the egde of him. You want him to look crisp and clear

That effect is really common. The blur+screen/lighten look i mean. Green Day was all about experimenting with music, so you should try to convey that in the style you use.
