Default Are you looking forward to Windows Vista?

Im currently having mixed feelings. The beta had nothing of what they said it did, so I'm skeptic. =)

No, because it will probably cost an arm and a leg, and I'll more than likley need to add another gig of ram to my PC.

I'll stick with XP for a while still.

    Thanks.

I can't really see a need to switch to Vista. From what I've seen they tried too hard to mimic mac and linux's desktops modern image. but MS has always sucked at using resources wisely, so I'm sure it's going to be a serious drain on hardware to run at even basic visual effects levels.

    They suggest:

The low end one will need a speed of at least 800MHz, 512MB of system memory and a graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. The Aero ready one will need a 1GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 1GB of system memory, 128MB of graphics memory, 40GB of hard drive capacity with 15GB free space, a DVD-ROM drive, audio output capabilities and Internet access.\

So basically if you have under 512 just forget it. I think 2 gigs of ram will be "high" end now. Man, I'm just getting used to have a gig =]

I'll need to upgrade my PC soon. =P

I think this whole windows vista thing is blown way out of proportion. Is vista still NT based? Or is it all new?

    Pretty sure its NT based.

Well Microsoft also has been shit with security. They must be going to great lengths in solving the problem, which I highly doubt they will. Live OneCare is supposed to be pretty decent, but theres a pricetag on it.

From what I hear in the beta, the new User Account Control feature (similar to Linux? :/) is very annoying with popups.

    I dunno.

I've heard about that new password thing. I hope it's not TO often. Only should ask for it on new programs, and system changes.

Live One Care you can get at bestbuy for like 10$USD. Lol!
