Allright so i have lan in my house between me and my cousin&#39;s computer. his computer has the router and the modem and i have the adapter. we have broadband so its not laggy but for some odd reason i get this weired dial-up ass lag which is really annoying&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; it doesnt happen all the time but it happens a lot. i dont think its because of the distance because our rooms r like right next to each other. he doesnt get the lag at all. only i get it. its almost as slow as a freakin dial up <_<. some times its so slow that it takes it 5 mins to load a page =/. and ocassionally i see the "unable to connect page". we have a pretty decent router and adapter. its a D-link. doesn any one have similar problems? do u know how to fix it? we tried contacting d-link and our isp company but it didnt help. i have tried uninstalling it, disconnecting and reconnecting the adapret but none of it helped. does anyone know how to fix this?

Can you make your signature smaller?

The problem is most likely the IP address, or DNS server.

Unplug your router, modem, and adapter. Let them sit overnight. Re attach them. If this helps, cool.

If it didn&#39;t goto start>control panel>network connections

Then right click on your connection, and press properties. Then Highlight "Internet Protocol".

Then press "Propreties". Now check to see if the Obtain an IP Address Automatically, and Obtain a DNS Address Automatically are checked. If not, them check them. Then press ok, and ok.

If that dosen&#39;t help, repost.

i have tried the first one before, i tried the other one and both are checked already.

its not a LAN problem, its a wireless network problem lol... i donno i have very little knowledge in this stuff but do u have any other methods? thnx.

is it possible that bad whether or lightning could interfere with it?

Yes, it could, and you dont have a LAN, you have a WAN, (Wide Area Connection). It&#39;s not any hardware configuration, Im almost 100% sure. Check your IP, to see if it&#39;s constantly the same. Your IP Address is dynamic and changes rapidly, If you have ever had a program like No-Ip&#39;s Program to setup a web server, Un-install this application, and do the following steps: (These have resolved a previous issue)

[In your case, this applies to your cousins house.]

1. If you have more than one splitter in the line to your modem, change things around so that you have only one.
2. Make sure that one splitter is high quality (5 to at least 1000 mhz, "gold", not "silver").
3. Loosen all connections and then reconnect securely.
4. Go outside and remove all the rust from where the cable company&#39;s cable connects to the one that enters your house.
5. Change ethernet cords, check your ethernet port for responsiveness, Could be fried because of lightning (This happened to me.)

Then repeat bfg&#39;s steps:

i dont have any No-ip&#39;s program. and my ip address stays the same. i think it was the bad whether yesterday that was messin it up... it started to work soon after the whether cleared up. thanks bfg and TheTechPlace for ur help.

ok this time its not related to whether. the sky is clear. but my wireless is laging like hell!!! at first i thought it was the 2.4ghz phone next to the router that was interfearing with it but i tried disconnecting it but that did nothing. it laged still. i bought a $40 antena. i haven't connected it but i donno if its gona work or not.

lol... it helped ofcourse. now i get 100 times better signal but i wanted to see if i could make it better without actually having to use $40.
