Found my way over
Actually that's a lie, I was referred here. Anyway, I'm Jack (big surprise) and I'm 17. I've been using Photoshop for a little over 5 years and 3ds max a little over 2 years. I'll be going into college for 3d animation and visual effects (primarily the latter) next year. Hopefully I'll eventually get to work on some feature films. I guess that will suffice for now, hows everybody?

Nice to have you here man, looks like you'll get along with everyone, unlike alot of the other new members. I've already seen your 3d work and i'm impressed.
Welcome

Hi, and welcome.
Have you done any 3D animations yet? I've seen the 3D renders you've created so far and they're done vary well, but you mentioned you desired to head into 3D animation so just want to know .
I also have 3ds max, though I'm sorry to say I have no clue how to use it. I use Rhino 3D if anything, had a year and a half of training but just wasn't my biggest forta.
Nice work though on your piece you presented to use, I will hopefully get around the to digital art section again and mention more on what I think .
Again welcome and hope to see you around.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Thanks! I actually haven't ventured too far into animation. I've done mainly stills. I want to get more into either 3d modelling or preferrably Visual Effects to eventually do the effects for feature films. I should probably work on some motion-related stuff, but I know I'll be taking some classes on it in college, so it isn't my biggest concern at this point.
3ds max has quite a learning curve and the best way to learn is by messing with everything. That's how I learned almost everything I know. I did look at the first couple steps of a modelling tutorial to understand the basic starting procedure, but again I think the best way to learn is by doing. I did things like turn things on/off, change settings from 0 to some ridiculous number like 500, and pressed tons of buttons. The best way to go is to set a goal that you think too advanced for you and just work until you're happy with it. That's how most of my projects go. I say just go crazy

Still have a few things to work out with that site so I do not want to post a link just yet. It's one of the sites that I briefly mentioned in the moderators forum. I'll be posting about it in the very near future, though.
