I could have put other pieces in there and I did consider it a few times, but I liked it this way. I intended it to be a little more "up close and personal" by having them be the only pieces on the board.

So, thats why I had them be the only ones on there. And just to let you know, there is HDRI reflection in place there. That's what the pieces/board are reflecting. I used it for reflection, but I didn't use the HDR probe to light the scene.

Sorry, i phrased it wrong. You should put reflection on the board itself Like.. a marble board or something
