How do I fade an image in PS?? Help Please
I've always been curious how to make something fade in Photoshop, and cannot find a tutorial on this.
Here is a picture of what i mean:

How the right side is solid and it fades out to the left...
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

To get a gradual fade like that I chose the layer with the image I want the fade to be on, click the "add layer mask" button on the layer tab. You will then need the gradient tool and just use use it on that layer until the desired fade effect is acheived.

Use a soft eraser on the layer.

Thanks guys!
I found the best results were from using APILOT's technique!
Always nice to learn new things!

I was going to suggest Apilot's method. You can use that method to add depth of field too(DOF is when an image is focused in one area and it becomes blurry as you move to another area). To do it, duplicate the image, blur the bottom one, add a layer mask to the top and use a gradient to fade it out. It's a really really basic way of doing it, but it can add a nice little effect to an image sometimes.

dragoneye: Wtf! Do it totally by hand + the ERASER?! Man, never use the eraser. Layer masks is the only right thing.
Layer mask + a gradient is the way to go, just like Apilot said.
