i'm on an old 754 sempron w/ 6200 gfx, 640mb pc2100 ram. LOL. 19"wide monitor, which is the sexiest monitor i've seen tbh... and logitech Z2300 Speakers, they're LOUD.

i want a c2d p5k n' come nice pc8000 ram... ohwell.

if anyone can help? --- if i upgrade the motherboard, ram and processor, can i still use the other components in my pc. Might need a new psu aswell but yeh????

I won't post my specs because their embarrassingly bad, I need to upgrade it asap. I've been saying that for a while now, my money always ends up going else where though.
I need a new graphics card more than anything, the one I have now is like... old.

My best pc in the house is;

19" TFT Monitor
AMD Athlon 6000+ Dual core 3.ghz per core
3GB DDR2 ram (apparantly xp wont recognise more than that)
Geforce 7950 GXT PCI-E
Only a 120gb HD though, serious upgrade needed there.
Only use headphones atm, they are quite high quality i think, good bass, and they dont disturb other people lol.

PSU is only 500watt too that needs an upgrade but it has a blue LED fan which is pretty

Gonna give it an overhaul in october, i'm quite a mad pc gamer so instead of buying consoles, I upgrade my pc.

I seriously need a new computer, but I cba going and getting the money, and if I was going to I'd blow it all on a korg M3...

Sempron 3100+ Palermo clock 1.8GHz
Abit KV8 Pro motherboard
1.5 Gb of memory across two sticks, DDR, PC3200, 208MHz.
Shit 128MB asus graphics card.
120GB HDD.
400W PSU
MBox2 mini USB sound card.
Sennheiser eH150 headphones, but I sometimes use my PA. Thinking of getting monitor speakers.
Windows XP Prorate Edition. Or, Pro Pirate. ;P
Used to use SuSE too, but don't any more.

Hah catalyst, if you want a REAL FAST hdd, get a solid state but they're expensive for a small amount of memory... 36gb = srs money.

Sequential transfer rates with SSD drives are probably not incredibly better than HDDs, afaik. I setup a drive in RAM on a linux box a while back to run some stats on it... I wasn't very impressed with the overall throughput but the IOPS was incredibly faster than the hard drive that I compared it to. Many hundreds of times faster. There are both flash and RAM based SSDs, both with downsides (flash limits on writes & RAM being volatile).
