very easy sig background tut

iv only used PS for like 2 days..... when i try to put the globs of white with my brush it comes out as a faded outish green color please help

but i didnt under stand: "and put the upper and middle layer on lighten."

so i just set their transparency to 50%, and you didnt post a finished pic w/o a sig on it, so idk if thats right or not...
