Spare me the holyer then though speecch, about the rights and wrongs of taking somebody elses work without their permission. The majority of people on this site are under 18 years old and are just entering the art world. They make sigs for a hobby not to make money off of them.

The majority of renders that they are using are game renders.The reality of it is that these sigs are a great free form of advertising for these companies and they probably could care less. Certain renders become very popular and spread like wild fire through the graphics forums getting the name of the game out. Some how I doubt that would upset the gaming companies, and it's those gaming companies that own the rights to those renders not the artist that drew them.

I guess we just don't have the high moral standards that you do Spekta. I bet you never even burned a CD or downloaded a MP3 off the net. How about downloading a movie or some porn, nah not you right. That would be stealing from an artist, and you would never do that. So spare me how righteous you think you are because you steal from artists just like the people you are accussing.

Just because, someone is under the age of 18, it doesn't mean they don't understand the concept of making their own artwork. I, for example am 14. I also, don't give a **** if the game companies care, or not. The fact is, using someone elses artwork, to make your own look better is ripping.

Why would you advertise? The company certainly didn't ask you to. Some do-good mother ****er doing it out of his or her own free will? **** that, nobody advertises for free. That is just a crappy excuse for ripping. If you want to advertise for something, do it for a friend, not a bunch of people you will never meet in your life.

You do know you are fighting over nothing. Do you expect people to just stop doing it. I would like to see you try to get all the sig designers that use renders to stop taking renders and "ripping" them off of sites. I suggest you stop because there is no possible way you are going to do that. Madball said it perfectly. Just please stop, this is useless fighting, and if you feel differently then just leave.

Anyways, if we're going to stop fighting about this I am going to say, that using "renders" does look good, but it doesn't make me respect the person.. or look at the work like they created it. :\

Basically, it's useless to tell a whole community to stop using game renders, ESPECIALLY if you are new to the community. And as Madball said, I believ the sigs actually help out the game.

I make sigs for a hobby, I don't really expect any money to come my way by making sigs, so I do as I please and give credit to an artist if I think credit is due.
