yes they are just swirls...but aren't most abstract backgrounds just variations of swirls?

as for the effect, there is only a few ways i know of to create that shine, and with all the tuts out there these days, i doubt anyone can come up with an original "shine effect" that hasn't already been done.

criticism is fine, but if you're gonna do it, make it useful plz.
