That is totally right except I do it. Which makes it better than Cannabis.
Omg I cant believe your an ALKY at your age !!1!11one
There, see how you like it
Yeah well enjoy alcoholism/liver cancer chum.
"Oh I wont get it because i dont drink that much" - its what they all say, but its a downward spiral, trust me, ive seen it too many times in my life already.
Did I say my mum says "SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE"? NAW
She lets me smoke because she knows that in my current mental state trying to quit would ruin me.
And before you say it, no its not because of cannabis, I had it long before, and also, no, smoking cannabis has not made it worse.
And if she is allowing you to it. Your mother isn't fit to be a parent. I hope that doesn't offend you.
Dont call my mothers parenting ability into question, kthx. You dont know her nor me so its impossible for you to make that judgement.
And yes, that did offend me, as I'm sure it would to you if I said similar about your mum.
Ohio? Ive got some cousins in Cleveland, they're probably what you would stereotype as junkies aye. They hang about with some pretty ****ed people, Owns a Tattoo store and hes got a sweet tattoo on his back, which is friend did for him, initials "G.D" i think its a gang or something, not sure though. Any idea?

1) I am no alcoholic by any means. I drinks once a weekend if that.
2) Enjoy lung cancer.
3) I am becoming a marine. I have to stay in my top physical condition at all times. I doubt I'll be drinking.

What exactly is your current mental status? What put you in this mental state? How would it "ruin" you? Cannabis couldn't hurt you if you stopped. It's in your head.

I am calling your mothers parenting abilities into question. Take it to heart or not. I am doing it. When a mother allows her son/daughter smoke weed or alcohol it is very reclous. I would not get offended at all. Now, I understand the mothers and fathers who "accept" there kids doing it. But by no means not giving them punishments and allowing it or talk about it near them. If you where my son I would kick your ass.

From you make him sound he sounds like a usual currupt "junky" living down there. Are you black? 95.42323% of the people down there are black. (Made up percentage.)
And if he is in a gang.. God help him. And G.D. isn't a gang from what I know... But I dunno. I used to live down in Euclid which is right next to Cleveland.. Well, actually I lived in the middle of the two. Bad area now.

To start, the first part of that was meant to be taken light heartedly
I am no junky by any means. I toke a couple of times a week on average. Sure I smoke tobacco daily, but I plan to stop in 4 years time. (Might sound weird I know, but hey its a goal)
3) I am becoming a marine. I have to stay in my top physical condition at all times. I doubt I'll be drinking.
Good luck becoming a marine, will be quite an achievement! be sure to post your graduation day photos (its not called graduation day I know, but im sure you get what I mean)
You'll have to tell me if there really are people like Sarge out of Full Metal Jacket "YOU BELONG TO THE U.S MARINE CORPS"

We'll continue this part of the discussion via PM's.

My mum is by no means happy that I smoke, she tells me that near enough every day, She is aware i smoke weed but is also not happy, as for alcohol, -she buys me beers for weekends (aslong as I give her the money for it)
If you were my dad/stepdad/whatever and tried to kick my ass I'd happily stab **** out of you (thats not a threat so dont be like "Hoho hes trying to physically threaten me over the net - as im not being like that with your comment, I understand that its in theory ). violence against children is one of my biggest pet hates, im actually quite dissapointed that you seemingly condone it, being a soon-to-be-marine its not the kind of morales you should have. - thats what leads to such vile practises as the treatement of inmates in Guantanamo Bay and various other PoW Camps.
Nah i'm not black, nor is he.. and i'd be careful, some people might read that the wrong way and be offended.
And if he is in a gang.. God help him. And G.D. isn't a gang from what I know... But I dunno. I used to live down in Euclid which is right next to Cleveland.. Well, actually I lived in the middle of the two. Bad area now
I did a search and the only gang with those initials that came up was Gangster Disciples, never heard of them before lol (but then again the only american gangs ive heard of are crips n bloods :P)
Anyway, lets continue the little bits left of our discussion in private messages and let this thread go back on topic :P

I do not smoke. I'm fine with smoking in private but I believe it should be totally banned in all public places. The thing with smoke is that it invades other people's spaces and that's not right.

sigh people who blame their stupid suicidal habits on how bad their life is, or their mental condition. what a cop-out.
rather then lighting up a cancer stick, why not see a shrink?
you're just stupid for saying "i'll quit in 4 years". why not quit now? do you have to get in that last ounce of shit into your lungs before you can have a respiratory that actually works properly? what an idea.
i don't understand why so many people are averse to treating their bodies well these days. i've never smoked, nor toked, nor ever will i. drinking in moderation, fine, but that's another topic. but there's no reason to pointlessly harm your body for whatever reason you think you have. people think that, "oh my life is bad, something bad happened, i have to do something to take away they pain". i say suck it up. shit happens in everyone's life. you say it was better for you to smoke than to pick up drinking. i can see how that is a somewhat valid argument in the regard that drinking can be very destructive, but your whole thinking is very mixed up. there is never going to be one occasion that comes on in your life that forces you to resort to something like cigarrettes, drugs, or alcohol to take away the pain. it's just a matter of having the integrity and fortitude to stick to your morals during those situations.
if you think that smoking is a way out for you, a way of helping your get over your problems, i'll just say it, you're stupid.

I smoke. Just about everything. except for crack
-
Valid point Sui.
Thing is, I have no urge to stop just now, i'm quite happy as I am.

Try telling that to the hundreds of thousands of people in Rehab/Clinics. (If not millions)
It's just a matter of having the integrity and fortitude to stick to your morals during those situations.
If it was easy as that I'm sure there wouldn't be any alcoholics or drug addicts in the world, as no-one starts out taking shit with that intention, unfortunately some slip under and end up with dangerous addictions.
I would have thought that would be relatively obvious, perhaps there isnt the same level of stuff like that in your town, I don't know

I don't want to appear like I am bragging or anything, so do not take it that way.
I have had very upsetting moments in my life (death, betrayal, disappointment), just like everyone else. I was able to keep focused on my morals and ethics that I had learned throughout my life, and have ultimately resisted the temptation to smoke, drink, do drugs. Now I don't hold myself above anyone who does, because I am a realist. I realize that these things are very tempting alternatives to just dealing with the pain, and on the surface, they can look even better.
All opinions about smoking being wrong aside, I think it is just a better decision in life to stick with the morals that have been instilled in your mind over the years, rather than sacrificing them for a short-term relief from pain. It gets controversial, of course, when your morals do not reflect a contempt for smoking, drugs, and alcohol, but your morals should reflect a desire to keep your body healthy and as pure as you can. Unfortunately in our society, the line separating black and white has seemingly disappeared and the two have blurred together on issues like this.
I don't know if you are a religious man, and I do not want to judge you either way, but it is a strong conviction of mine to follow 1 Corinthians 6:19 which says:
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own
This is really my foundation for the morals I have in my life. My body has been a gift for me, and I choose not to harm it with any substances like cigarettes. You showed some pretty convincing data that cigarettes are not harmful, but even you can admit that it can harm your respiratory system, and raise your chances for getting cancer, emphysema, or other diseases. To me, it is just easier to stay away from all these things rather than condoning one, and not another. Because I have seen that when people take one step, they are likely to take another, and each time they get further and further from where they began.
Again, don't think I'm trying to act righteous, or act like a radical religious man who is trying to convert you to my cause. I just find that life is much easier to keep ahold of your convictions, rather than letting go of them. Maybe not at first, but in the long run, the rewards far outweigh the work.

I understand you perfectly and that is a very good point, I have a friend who follows pretty much exactly the same ideals as you - even having mentioned the same quote before (he too is religious).
I'm not particularly religious myself, although I believe in some of the christian ideals and also bits and bobs from other religions.
you clearly have your ideals sorted, I respect you for that m8.
[Sorry for the rather empty reply but im just about to go out, i will build on it later.]
