any suggestions on where to look for tuts for cinema 4d
also how do i change the bg so in picture mode the bg is transparent not be black

The Magic Eraser tool will eliminate all the black. And don't forget to save it as a PNG, if not it automatically gives it a white background if you don't, if I remember correctly.

Tick on alpha channel in the render settings.

Yup, save as a TGA with alpha channel.

or tiff with an alpha channel, alpha channel is the best way.
