You haven't oversmudged it. It's just that the colors which try to blend the car in are a lot different than the colors of the background. Other than that, quite amazing.

Yep. It's just much lighter than the other shades of gray there.

He's right. Except a bit off. It's not eve that the light gra is the wrong color. It's the fact that the light gray, and the brown background simply don't go with blue. It's just not blue enough IMO. I think if you were to make the background blue more saturated it'd work better.
