They are decent composition wise. The first one was kind of hard to keep up with, the beat was a little too irregular to stay interesting. The second one is an improvement on the first. Overall I would say you should concentrate on ensuring you have a good balance of rhythm, melody, and a lead. I don't mean lead as in a ripping guitar solo, but most successful composition needs at least 2 of the 3 to start with. Don't try to make it too complex. Instead, focus on a few select notes. Harmony is something you really either know by ear, or learn gradually. You seem to have a good ear for that though. Just need to bring it all together.
