Waste not, precious time...
This is the large art version of my entry for the SOTW. In this I used a photo of the eye of Cygnus, the bassist from the Australian progressive metal band, Ne Obliviscaris. I asked him months ago if I could use it to make something cool, and only now, did I have the ideas to use it.

hmm, a nice bit of photo manip there. The one you submitted on SOTW could use some work on the text font/placement btw. The first version needs more colour and the second version needs less colour imo. Something inbetween.
Think you can beat my brutes?

What's wrong with the text I chose? I really like it.

On a serious note, he asked what was wrong with it. You merely confirmed that you disliked it. :P
To the OP, I do agree with Active about the typo though. Your choice of font face is a little iffy in comparison to the piece. You chose one font for the first line, and another for the 2nd line. Where I see you tried to portray a certain style with the text, I think you may have tried a bit too hard. Expressing a feeling or emotion isn't always going to need literal interpretation, especially with fonts. I second that when I say you also shouldn't let go of legibility for the sake of getting your point across.
Typo isn't always about how it looks, but where it is, and how it's presented. You could have easily used a monotype script font, and achieved the same amount of expressiveness. I think the main thing you need to work on in terms of typo (typography, not a spelling error) is your execution. Look at other effective examples of typo. Things like posters (real ones), movie posters, advertisements, even newspapers are all great sources of inspirational typography. Use that to your advantage, and that will drastically improve your execution.

Yeah, really.
Thank you solaris for giving me some serious help. I will go ahead and see what I can do with the text. After all of my effort, that always seems to be my one downfall.
It is tricky finding one that works with it. In my eyes, the precious time text, was perfect to me. I like the thin, tall letters in comparison to short, boring, standard font. But that's just me. Since this IS for a competition, I do have to put more thought into what the viewer is going to see, and feel when he/she sees it.
I am not quite sure what you mean by "monotype script" font. Can you clarify and/or give me the name of some good fonts I should use?
EDIT:

Is this what you mean?
