Sounds like he made that font himself, but you do not have to make the font itself for a logo to be "made by you." The creative use of a font is part of the design process. Most big name companies use fonts that are already out there.

Zotick, I like how you attempted to make one from scratch, and the use of black and white is good, but keep these next few pointers in mind.

Logo's should be simple, that way it can be the size of a thumb nail, or as large as a sign in front of a building. When you add too much detail, it gets lost in the scaling. Now, you can always make 2, 1 simplistic version for those smaller versions, but it would be best to keep to 1.

Another thing, logo's should clearly convey what they are about. Both examples, although a good try, are hard to actually read. As pointed out, your first one looks like it begins with a 2 rather than a Z. And your second 1 has it too close together and with a backwards K.

Why not try using just a Z, or drawing a small, simple picture to represent yourself, something that you can relate too.
