Text is misaligned and is, in places, forced just to make the shotgun shape.
In other places he's not correctly sized the type so that two small lines of text fit nicely next to one big line, what is left is a mismatch of typesize.
Not well done. needs work.

How dare you tell ANYONE what they think is irrelevant. If you have that type of attitude we don't need you on the site. EVERYONE'S opinion is relevant, whether you think it is wrong or not.

well i think its great. Art isn't meant to be perfect, If its all aligned nicely, That is just following under someones stupid rules.
i think art is meant to be unique.
I like it all rugid. and not aligned perfectly. i mean for the most part it is, But its not supposed to look like a perfect gun. the viewer is supposed to notice the gun. But focus more on the words used.
great job man.

But he's not following the rules. I suspect he doesn't know what they are too. And because of this, he's just made a bad job of breaking said rules.

Okay. Time to butt in.
@Soap: Just critique the work and move on. If you are going to make bold and rude comments such as people's word are inrelevant, shit will come down man.
@Xelo: You contradicted yourself. How can you scold Soap and say its shitty and useless comment and when you just gave on yourself? Saying its perfect doesn't help either and personally, I think its worse than what Soap said because the chap might think he doesn't need to improve. =\ Yes your encouraging him but you always want people to strive higher and higher right? If so, I need say no more
@Kritez: I pretty much agree with you. Everyone's opinion that is sensible and actually makes some form of relevance to the topic at hand is wanted. Whether it be wrong or not and personally, I think no comment is wrong. Art is subjective and you guys know this but yet you follow it up with the silly contradictions all the time, especially when we argue but hey, its not necessarily a bad thing you know I think its good
So like yeah, please guys, stop arguing over crap. I mean its not even arguing, its more like bitching. Gotta do more better than this guys.
PS: Why is it when Soap posts a comment on typography pieces, there is always some big strife? Personally, I would want his input because he is a PROFESSIONAL. Alot misuse the term 'pro' (including me) but thats for another discussion He knows what he is talking about but he could go about it a better way, that I do know.
Anyway, stop with this shit. Just giving a friendly reminder

i know he knows what he is talking about but art isnt about following every rule and he harps about rules on everyones typo stuff
i think yes rules are important but in art they are just guidelines imo if everyone followed every rule then everyone would come up with the same looking pieces of art
i know i only do tags but this isnt my job and i know i need schooling to be able to get alot better but damn if he stops harping on rules we might not react like we do towards him
BTW i like the shotgun damnit its unique and it thinking outside the typo box imo tired of seeing the same block of text 1,000 times and just having a texture over the whole thing good job man keep it up

I get you man. But I guess he goes on about the rules because we(generally speaking) are beginners and he considers it important to know them first before attempting any fancy shit.
I remember a time Jeff told me he is honest when he gives his comment but he doesn't thrash someone else's work with either. A problem I have is that people are honest but thrash that work as well. That is stupid. You don't have to be harsh and a prick to give an opinion of someone else's work (it can be argued though). Thats why I do my best to follow what Jeff said. It can be a bit difficult, especially at times when your really short but in the end, I think the person on the receiving end is better for it.

As the old saying goes: Learn to run before you walk.
Would you say 'I don't require grammar and punctuation because
I want to be artistic'? No.
The rules are there for a good reason and learning them and practicing them is paramount to producing competent typographical work.
There's artistic, and then there's bad.
If you don't learn the rules before you do stuff, all you'll come up with is bad stuff.
It doesn't matter if you don't want to follow the rules: that's fine. I encourage that you don't follow the rules.
I never do unless it's for a very specific thing and even then I try to get away with using as few of them as possible.
But.
I know what the rules ARE to be able to know which rules I'm not following in order to be artistic.
If I didn't know what the rules were it wouldn't be artistic it would just be ignorant, imo.
Even as I write this post, I'm following at least one rule of typography (tell me which one it is?)
so, the rules are applicable in all things. PARTICULARY when it comes to writing things like
college papers, formal letters, letters to clients, your portfolio, etc.
Half of the rules are in place to maintain legibility and readability, some others
are in place because a piece of paper is only so big and the others are
in place to prevent someone writing a dissertation in 3pt Times New Roman.
The list goes on.
You might not think that the rules of typography are worth following, but I can garuntee
you that you follow some of them every time you write a document
100% of the artists and designers you might look up to follow the rules of their trade or,
if breaking them, have spent half their working career learning and following them.
@takken, I originally hadn't said anything too disparaging about this, I just said it was a good idea but needed a lot of work.

Last time I checked, art is the expression of one's personal views and feelings in a visual form, but hey... Maybe I don't know anything.
Whatever the reason, I think the arguments in this thread are reaching a point which I do not like.
Sorry D4rK3N, but the thread is now Locked.
