To be honest I only critque peoples works that I know will take it into account and apply the knowledge I try to give them, most people just get upset when you say something wrong and they end up raging about it. Or just refuse the fact that their piece of work is imperfect.

Also, the forum has guests too. Guests are able to view topics and obviously they can't reply, so it doesn't always have to be members that are viewing it.

from a design standpoint, if you're looking for really solid critique on design elements, then frankly you probably aren't going to find them here. the reason for that being that 95% of the designers here are really new designers and couldn't tell you specific design related issues if they wanted to; they just don't know them yet.

of the people who have been around long enough haven't progressed at all because the void, ironically, seems to be full of designers either unable or unwilling to try to make any progress and actually learn good design. they all make the same types of stuff, and the it's a circular cycle of copying eachother's work. this is why almost everyone's tags here are nearly the same exact style (some sort of smudge or c4d spam or fractal spam, all of which rely entirely on the quality of resources used instead of using good design elements to create a piece themselves). the only comments you are going to get usually is how to turn whatever you make into one of those styles, because that's what they know, and that's what they think is good.

there are some people here with some skill, don't get me wrong, but those people probably don't post often because of being discouraged by their posts being disregarded by new designers that hear "omg that's awesome" from a few of thier friends who are also really new and don't know better, and when they hear the "actually it's really not good, here's why..." from someone who knows better they prefer the positive crit and keep making things in order to get those remarks again. hence no progress.

all i can say is at the end of the day a rating or a critique is an opinion of another person no matter how you put it. we all want our works accepted some way but everyone doesnt feel the same. so take it as it is breath deep, keep working on you. also if you feel like your not getting any feedback dont be afraid to pm people and say hey could you let me know what you think of my work with a link. i get numerous pms like that. just an idea.

    ^^^

I'm pretty new here, but surprisingly even I've gotten PM's like that. A lot of the time I just click the new posts button and reply to as many things as I can. I don't reply to everyone's threads, there's a lot of posts here in a day most times. And I'm also going to go with what Monroe said, I don't want to come off as a bitch who hates someone's work by pointing out a dozen and a half things I don't like about it.

Then when someone in a "click" or team posts after a thread has been up they get about 5 to 10 comments right away, why? When someone posts a bump or a why no comment in their thread they seem to get punished by a bunch of assholeish comments with no real pointers or advice on what or how to fix the issue in their tags.

Also when someone posts in the rate my signature thread, most of everyone gives really bad ratings, unless..., you in a team or in a "click" If you rate someone in that thread arent you suppose to give reason why you gave that rating, and not be an asshole about it by just giving a really low rating and give no reasons AT ALL! This site is a good site, minus the usual pricks that troll the threads.

Please someone fill me in... why the bias attitudes?
I'm gonna explain this in detail so bare with me...

People post on what interest them... you can't help that. I tend to post more on Anime stuff or technical things, however if I see a rapper, I'll ignore it, even if it's amazing mostly because I don't like rap. That is just common interest which is determined by the individual.

Another things about comments is that they work on a respect basis. If you comment others and give them good feedback, and I mean more then, "Great lighting mate", they will take notice and remember your comment. If you keep giving positive and detailed feedback they may be inclined to comment about your art piece. For me a great example would be a good friend of mine who's on deviantART. Both her and I continually give each other feedback and if she needs any help she knows that I'll provide some ideas, and vice-versa. This is only because we continually offered each other help.
    Respect works both ways.

The Rate my sig thread will always be bias towards people. I got a 4 or something for my AirGear sig because the person below me thought it was boring. What they didn't know was that I coloured and redrew half the image with my tablet. The reason why it has the simple look is because I wanted to look simple and plain. It would be like me telling Pet to add textures and light effects to his Vectors. Some things are not meant to go together and art is viewed both personally and expressively.

As well as this, you are always gonna get the usual arsehole that will spam crap. I'm sorry we can't control that as much as possible, we can't be everywhere at once but it's also up to you members to "Report" crappy posts by clicking this image at the top right of the post:
I can tell you straight away that we don't receive many report notifications. We do receive the occasional one, but if it's as bad as what you are suggesting, then we can't tell if it's happening if no one tells us.

If you have any problems you can always PM me. I get E-mail notifications on my phone 24/7 so if I hear something, I can address it as soon as I get a chance. The other thing is if you want a comment on an art piece or sig, PM me. I like to comment on people's works, but I tend to do more if I'm asked to view a certain piece.
