Man... I'm totally going to be a businesswoman who works my ass off for a nice car or house or something. ... Drink? Smoke? Enjoy life? wtf? I will, however, take big breaths and suck up the air meant for future generations.

i think people do not care enough anymore these days. not just normal people like you and i who are working to live but even governments and those with power.

For example, poverty in africa. Is is realli a case of people going hungry! From my point of view, not really! In this world, i really doubt that there is not enuff food, just that it is not distributed evenly. There is enuff food in this world and another! For real, the governments of these 3rd world countries recieve the aid given by richer countries and look after themselves and do not worry about the people of theyre countries. That may apply for some countrys but others may struggle for real but if we keep giving money and not acting further than that then we will never know where our money is going and if were realli helping them!

about what has more carbs and whats "healthy to eat"

about media and if Jen and ben are gettin back together

about war

about evrything

and most ppl care more about things that arnt important
i say to care about yourself and your self only

now i dont mean this in a bad way

most ppl are happy if they donate money. thus caring for themself more than others if it made you feel pain when you help a starving kid in africa no one would do it
any thoughts?

I almost agree with your "i say to care about yourself and your self only" statement, though I believe that as humans we have emotions, and sometimes caring about people you're close with is helping to protect yourself. Also, organizations such as governments protect people a lot more then they realize. I've said this before: no matter what kind of technology we have, no matter how sophisticated our society becomes, life is a constant struggle for survival. People form these emotional ties to protect themselves. Quite often people band together and are able to mutually help eachother.
The reason why people care about such things as the poverty in Afirca is because they're protecting themselves for one reason or another. Religion is a huge part of this, as is society. Religious zelots offer care, help, and aid to those because they're obeying their diety. People within a society attempt to blend in and avoid being deemed "weird" or "different" by idolizing role-models and the such.

If people didn't care about the helpless
If nobody sent aid to Africa, think about what would happen: millions of people would die. With millions of dead Africans, could the survivors possibly be able to produce enough food to feed themselves? I'm not trying to be comical, I'm speaking of reality... nature always has a way of balancing everything out. Africa is overpopulated in relationship to it's infrastructure, and if anybody died, it would be the weakest. This pattern would continue untill there's enough food to go around. The survivors would be the strongest of the race...

Instead of an enormous population dieing of poverty and disease, wouldn't it be nice to have a smaller population consisting of the strongest, the fittest, the healthiest, the most resistant to diesease, and be able to feed, clothe, and shelter them? Well this is how.

Like I've already said, people are attempting to protect themselves by doing this. It's a good practice in some ways, though many people aren't protecting themselves against the physical trials of the world, and are instead focusing on fitting in to their culture.

well... all of this doesn't make too much sense since its all related to the induvidual.

War: People want to stop war not only for the sake of the people dying in the war but for themself. If war spread there would be a risk of them dying. So if you prevent war there is less of a risk that it will spread to your own backyard.

Wales: Now thats just for saving your own neck. When discussing this with people, if you speak your mind and say that you dont give a shit about a bunch of washed up wales and that they should be blown to peices... what do you think the people who youre talking to will think of you? so therefor its better to just agree on how "horrible those wales have it" and get on with your pathetic life.

Media: Dont think that too many people care about it, mostly people who have no life and have to watch other peoples lifes on tv so they can feel that something exiting is happening in their useless existance.

Starvation/Homeless: Se Wales.

Carbs/diet: That is for themselves too. You dont count carbs for your neighbor.

I'm not saying that everyone thinks this way, some of this may fit into some people but still... the things you said has alot to do with a self image and/or self safety.

Wales: Now thats just for saving your own neck.
You're on to something, smart kid B) . The media though, is also to save their own neck.

In some aspects the government is more important then the people, because without their government the people would more then likely be unable to organize themselves, and as a result die off.
As for food, there's more then enough food grown to feed every creature on the earth. However, food isn't free, so if you don't have the skills to contribute to society, recieve currency as a form of payment as a result of it, and go out to buy some food, then you're out of luck.
You could make your own food as well...

I don't believe that how much people care or don't care has changed at all, I simply think that people are less aware of it, and that due to industrialization and moderization people are caring about different things. Just my 2 cents though...

No. People, imo, are just enough aware. We need to take action. Just start by picking up a piece of trash on the road. I mean little things make the world go round.

we know...we dont act..we let media influence us in a way even we cannot understand.

Example...look at your clothes..in some way or another you are wearing something that has been seen on tv.

Example....Poverty..we all know its there, its a bitch fucking a load of people up, we can stop it, the UN say what $160 billion to end poverty you think thats alot???? hell no not to the corporate masters who run the show, not to the government who give out ridicilous budgets for ridicolous shit and use there resources to simply benefit themselves. Think about it just last week Man City were gonna buy kaka from ac milan for 135 milliioooon pounds!!!!!!! with 135 million quid u cud a) create jobs and save jobs by saving chains of stores such as woolworths which have close down, b) try to influence a so called 'free-market' by investing in stocks.

Now that money was gonna be used to buy ONE player, the bosses could have easily re-constructed the whole of Gaza and stopped the on-slaught.

now im just saying.......

It all depends on the person (...dur). Certain tree-hugging grass-humping bleeding hearts will waste entire weekends to helping the whales. Meanwhile, nouveau riche hearless scumsucking yuppies will argue that saving the whales isn't an issue at all. What I think personally, well, doesn't matter. I should hope that the weight of my opinions, or anyone else's for that matter, wouldn't effect you in any substantial way. But understand that everybody's moral compass points them in different directions, therefore the answers to your questions are supplied in the form of universal opinions, I'm afraid.

Hope that helps.
