my score is 9996 ATM.

It's calculated like this:

How many people have you on their buddy list, we'll call them tier 1. Then it calculates the number of people that have someone in your tier 1 group on their buddy list. Add them up and that's the score.

Basically it's Buddy's Buddy's.
