Mac?!?!
I am a Windows user for life, I have a Windows XP laptop but I'm very interested in film, most likely as a career in a few years.
So my question is, for a laptop that would be used in conjunction with film production software, what Apple laptop should I buy.
(Based on performance, not on the price)
Thanks

Don't buy one. There's no reason to. Film has nothing to do with "macs".
Buy a windows PC, save yourself a shitload of cash and enjoy the same things you can do on a mac that a can on a PC.
There's adobe premier and Avid. Both are used by professional video post productions. Guess what? They run on PC.

Sam's right. Don't get a mac just for that reason. I really don't know that much about them, but programs like the two Sam mentioned are more than sufficient for what you want to do.

Vista has some film stuff. But it really isn't good if you plan on using it for work.

Vista has nothing to do with it. It's the software like premier, final cut pro, avid thats used for video editing/production.

Vista....should have nothing to do with nothing, if you ask me.

The reason I would choose a Mac is because I am VERY proficient with Motion, Final Cut Pro, Shake...etc.
I can use Premiere but I find I'm much handier on the above Mac products.

...Well if you're set on getting a Mac then the obvious answer is to buy the best mac book pro you can afford. Case closed.

It's for a graduation present in a year and a bit, so hopefully something good will come out by then.
And it's not the actual Mac that I care about, it's the software that I really care about.
