Normal does not exist because everyone is different.
Therefore everyone is abnormal.
Thus abnormal becomes normal.
But since normal does not exist neither does abnormal.
So therefore normal and abnormal do not exist.

wut?
it depends on the context. as in, normal what? personality? clothes? lifestyle?
when you look at normality with respect to one of those or anything specific, then everyone is certainly not different, so the rest of the statements fall through.
without reference to anything, "normal," and thereby also "abnormal," have little meaning, so I can go with "does not exist."
and jeff is smart
I declare a Paradox...
And i declare a war
You should define what it means to be normal and abnormal. Suppose abnormal is defined as a set where its a member of itself. Otherwise it is normal. I'm going to go a bit mathy
So a bunch of geeks would be normal since a set of geeks is not a geek. Contrarily, a bunch of non-geeks would be abnormal since they each can be a member of their own set.
Consider a set of ALL things that are normal N and ask ourselves. Is the set of all things that are normal N actually normal?
Assume that it is abnormal. If it is, then it doesn't belong in the set N because it should contain all stuff that is normal. But then N does not contain itself so therefore its NORMAL even though we assumed that it was ABNORMAL. Contradiction.
Assume that N is normal. If it is, then it does belong in the set N. But then N would contain itself as a member. Which is the definition of something that is abnormal. Therefore its ABNORMAL when we assumed that it was NORMAL. Contradiction.
Russells Paradox.
Lol derek breaks it up into code. :p
wise words
*squints eyes*
Basically an extended version of: "Just remember you're different, just like everyone else."
right...
normality such as in statistics can be defined by a preset and repeating pattern, or any visible trend that may occur naturally or unnaturally. Therefore since all things fall to chaos ( thermodynamics ) normality cannot ever truly be recognized as such since all pattern with eventually descend into chaos. Since a state of norm cannot exist, as a result a state of being abnormal cannot exist as a result.
simply put no one can be normal or abnormal because everyone is in a state of ever changing chaos.
this is close, imo.
Normal does not exist because everyone is different.
Therefore everyone is abnormal.
Thus abnormal becomes normal.
But since normal does not exist neither does abnormal.
So therefore normal and abnormal do not exist.
The first line fails.
"Normal" is a concept relating to the common occurrence of a variable, in this case a human personality trait. "Normal" is simply what occurs most often in a sample, somewhat like a watered down stereotype.
Therefore, since the four lines following the first go on the premise that the first line is true, the entire statement fails.
Normal doesn't have to be based on personality, does it? To define something like humans as normal, you have to take every single human and find an average of EVERYTHING. Hair color, size, complexion, weight, lifespan, personality, molecular structure, EVERTHING until you find an example of your 'Normal' person. Anything that differs in ANY way is abnormal, which is everyone. That doesn't make Abnormal the new Normal, just that abnormality is common. Abnormality in and of itself might be thought of as normal, but as everyone is abnormal in their own special way, there is no 'Normal' abnormality, but there also is. Typically in people you get large groups of people with the same type of abnormality, such as skin color or mental retardation (which isn't to say they're related, grow up). So caucasians might be commonly abnormal, but not normal, as a larger percent of the population is of a different race.
But I'm getting the feeling that I'm just repeating what's already been said. Coexist, yo.
What?
Nice.
Since my english is not so perfect as bradleys,
I just understood the text, but cant explain my mind on this, like bradley did.

Interesting but why does normal and abnormal not exist? I disagree with this because when you look at this from different perspectives (ex. some intelligent being over us or maybe some supernatural being) we are all normal to them and nothing else and from our own perspectives and from the perspectives of beings below us we are nothing but abnormal. I hope you all understand this. I welcome debaters, I just love philosophical threads like these.
