Fonts slowing down PC
Hi to everyone first off.
I am new to this forum and as you can tell my question is a very old one. I remember back in the days of Windows 98 having too many fonts in your font directory slowed down your PC loading and even applications that run them, i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
Does this problem still exist in the Windows XP Pro environment?
I was told loading your fonts into this directory...
My Computer\Local Disk\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
stops the problem, is this true?
Thanks for your help with I know is a basic question.

I haven't heard any rumors that to many fonts can slow them down on XP. I haven't had a problem with it.
So...just keep adding fonts..

Me neither, but a friend o' mine did.
Dunno if a different directory helps, altough it looks like they will only be used with Photoshop, so I guess it helps

no, it should be My Computer\Local Disk\Program Files\Windows\Fonts
you should upload any new fonts to this directory. Photoshop can upload from this directory.

I install my fonts into Control Panel/Fonts myself. I downloaded a huge font pack a few weeks ago. Some 700 or so fonts, and it ripped my PC a new one. I ended up having to take 'em out.
Thanks.
Prick.
