Then I thought, ah, what the hell, let's give it a try lol.

One more thing though, I checked out the alien tutorial in the signature tutorials section, and I already made a post about it there.
But I don't know how to subtract the alien (render) from the black background.. Please help out, because I'd love to give that tut a try!
Unless it's kind of too advanced, then my search is not complete.
Third one looks pretty sweet, also I replied to your question in the tutorial thread.

Well like Aether said in the alien tut a render if downloaded and saved to your computer should have a transparent background.

The differences in the terminology are that a stock will always have a background and a render won't. You can either try cutting it out yourself which is the bane of my existance haha. But the magic eraser or magnetic lasso tool work well. Also and I think this gives the best result but probably takes the longest is to just make a really rough outline of the render with the normal lasso tool and then press Q to edit it in quick mask mode. This will make everything not in the selection red. You can then use a normal soft brush to paint the areas that you don't want. Then click Q again and you will have your revised selection.

Alternatively you can go to planet renders or premium renders and just make an account and download whatever you want. kiu.

    what.

This is going to save me so much effort.... I just render stuff by using the normal eraser tool and hard brushes lol.

Lol yeah I used to argue with the magnetic lasso tool for hours until the photography technician at my college told me I was being an idiot and showed me how to use the quick mask.
