    Default Animation Help (School Final)

Hey GFXVoid Community, I'm currently working my semester final for my photoshop class, and I want to do an animation which I plan on making two doors open up, showing a graphically appealing somewhat banner / signature, (graphic that also contains animation itself such as lighting effects, text animation, etc..) and has a hyperlink to an e-portfolio.

Having only used Photoshop for a few years, and solely making signatures for personal enjoyment at occasional times, I don't have much experience or knowledge in animation making. I have some knowledge of using the timeline feature of the animation window, but not the other format that allows one to deal with layers, etc..

I need advice and help in making the Animation, with the main idea of the animation stated above. This is my current progress so far, which took me several hours to do ,and have over 50 layers in animation (which I'm sure there's a shortcut for), and still not 1/4 of the way completed.

    Progress:

Help? pl0x? (If anyone needs PSD to check , feel free to ask)

Does it have to be done with photoshop? Can it be done with flash or maybe even after effects?

If you have 50 layers for just that small animation then your definitely doin more than you have to. The Tween tool is your saving grace in almost all animation programs. I would say you should only have like 15 frames max for that short clip.

Look up photoshop animation tutorials on youtube. There are plenty of beginner lessons on there.

Personally I think trying to do animation with photoshop is a lost cause. Not that animation with gif's is futile, but photoshop (even with the new tools) will never be an acceptable animation authoring tool. I say stick it to the man and do a flipbook.

I understand your logic but Photoshop has the same basic tools all animation programs have. Flash and Photoshop have a lot in common in their basic tool layout. Flash is of course way more advanced as is after effects but if your lookin to make a basic animation like this then Photoshop is just fine in my humble opinion.

Thanks for everyone's reply , but yes it does have to be done in Photoshop since it's a photoshop course ):.

However, I was able to lessen the amount of frames from the start (50) to the current (15-20), although not as smooth, but still not bad.

I have tried tween-ing, but for some reason it just didn't work and I had to manually make the layers, but overall I think I'm on the right track now with having completed the sliding door animation, with some graphic light and text animations yet to be done.

    Current Progress:

If anyone has any suggestions / feedback, since this is my first real animation project done in Photoshop, please let me know! Really love the community here @ gfxvoid.
