They health department also strongly suggests against all those anti-bacterial hand soaps as well for the same reason.
Sorry to et off topic, but for a study I did in health I had to do a lot of reading about this :P
Ever heard of an illness called C-diff? It's an illness that kills a great number of really young and elderly, what happens is these ppl take a bunch of meds that kill off all the antibodies in their stomach and or body trying to get rid of the bad stuff but also killing off all the good kind as well, resulting in c-diff attacking their gut and causing flu like symptoms that result in a lot of bad news.
Thats why I don't use mouth wash anymore, don't use anti-bacterial soap(getting harder to find soap that doesn't have this) and I am always read up on the shots me or my kids get just so I am aware what we are really putting into our bodies in order to keep us safe.
Actually I did know xD For once. I figured early on that using a mouthwash with a drying effect will obviously leave your teeth defenceless against any new bacteria. Even worse if you happen to be a mouth breather. And as you say the same logic can be applied to anything else that kills off bacteria. Rinsing after using mouthwash has certainly improved the whole drying-mouth thing since I started recently, although heaven knows what the water leaves behind and I still get the benefits of the mouthwash, its a difficult decision to make tbh as both sides (ie not brushing and brushing) have their bad points.
In this day and age everything that we use is so chemical and man-made you would probably find we would have a much better life if we just switched to how we were intended to use things to keep our teeth clean, things like fruits etc... But that's debatable.
Out of pure interest what would you suggest is removed or limited from the daily routine to minimalise 'health problems'? Things such as daily showers etc...
