The you've obviously never heard the old axiom "Those who can't; teach". The job of the teacher is to open you to knew ideas and things, not to know more than you. A teacher is a swiss arm knife, able to do multiple things but certainly not a replacement for the real thing (you wouldn't use a swiss army knife to open a can of tuna if you've got an electric can opener right there).Originally Posted by Galazilron

BUT, the real reason I'm posting this is to respond to Adam's comment. It's NOT normal that students know more than teachers. They are TEACHERS. They are supposed to TEACH us. Not have us teach them. If they aren't qualified to be a teacher, then they shouldn't teach.
Anyways, no harsh feelings, I just don't agree that it's "average" that I know more about my teacher.
Secondly, computer classes are still new to the system, they can't afford to pay a professional the same rates that they'd make just going into their career field. And as far as I know there isn't a Computer Science Teaching course at any college in the world. Most computer class instructors are English teachers or sport coaches that couldn't get another position, and knew a little bit about computers. If you go to MIT and know more than the professor, than that's impressive. But knowing more than your high school teacher (in ANY course) is not exciting or unusual.
